Camps

School camps are an important part of learning at St Mary’s. They give students the chance to develop independence, confidence, and teamwork skills outside their usual classroom environment. Camps help students step out of their comfort zone, try new things, and build lasting friendships.

Our program is carefully structured to introduce students to camping experiences in a gradual and supportive way:

Year 3 – Adventure Camp (1 night)

A fun first experience away from home where students take part in team-building games, outdoor challenges, and activities that encourage independence.

Year 4 – Sovereign Hill Camp (2 nights)

A hands-on historical experience where students explore life during the gold rush, dress in period costume, and take part in activities that bring history to life.

Year 5 – Adventure Camp (2 nights)

A mix of outdoor activities such as ropes courses, canoeing, and team challenges that help students grow in confidence and develop leadership skills.

Year 6 – Canberra Camp (4 nights)

A highlight of the final year, where students visit Parliament House, the War Memorial, Questacon, and other key landmarks while learning about leadership, democracy, and Australian history.

Each camp builds on the experiences before it, helping students grow in resilience, confidence, and connection as they move through the school.
